Forest Heath District Council's Electoral Services team will be sending forms out to people on the electoral register, who have a proxy or postal vote whose signature on the personal identifiers record is more than five years old.
This is the first annual review which requires a fresh signature if you wish to remain an absent voter. Failure of refusal to provide a fresh signature will mean that your entitlement to vote by proxy or by post would cease.
Ken Crow, Electoral Services Manager, said: "This is the first annual review which legislation requires Electoral Registration Officers to carry out a refresh of signatures more than five years old, which will produce accurate records and potentially limit the number of postal votes that are rejected due to mismatched identifiers."
