Published on Tuesday 10th January 2012
This week sees start of the recruitment process for a joint Chief Executive of two councils to help shape the future in West Suffolk.
Forest Heath District Council and St Edmundsbury Borough Council recently agreed to unify their staffing structure under the management of a joint Chief Executive. A shared senior management team will follow.
Business acumen and ability to create effective partnerships across all sectors will be key skills in the new joint post. The recruitment process is open to each council's current Chief Executive, as well as other internal and external candidates. The annual salary has been agreed by both councils as somewhere between £105,000 and £115,000.
The two council Leaders, Cllr John Griffiths (St Edmundsbury) and Cllr James Waters (Forest Heath) said:
"Between us, we will be much stronger working together but this job is more than simply joining up two councils - it is an exciting opportunity to shape the future. We are looking for someone who can cut through the usual public sector tangles and create innovative partnerships to deliver services which reflect the current economic climate and demands."
The job description, person specification, terms and conditions and other job details are available on both councils' websites: www.forest-heath.gov.uk/chiefexecutive and www.stedmundsbury.gov.uk/chiefexecutive
