Healthy Food, Healthy Bodies

Healthy Foods = Healthy Bodies course will be delivered on Wednesday 23 November to year five pupils at Tuddenham CEVCP School. Courses will run for a half day a week for 4 weeks.

This will raise awareness in children of the importance of food and nutrition as part of a healthy balanced diet and also the importance of regular physical activity to promote a healthy lifestyle.

The course was created through the partnership between Forest Heath District Council, Anglia Community Leisure and Extended Schools Partnership and is open to all Primary Schools in the District and is currently free to run.

The Volunteers centre in Newmarket, have recently been involved with recruitment and co-operation with volunteers. There are five volunteers signed up to co-deliver this course so far and are all now receiving training in Food Hygiene Handling, Health & Safety and Sports Leaders Training.

Forest Heath District Councillor, Michael Anderson, Member Champion for Out Reach Projects for Young People said "This is a great opportunity for young people to learn from a Hands-On approach and learn the importance of eating healthy foods and maintaining a healthy lifestyle."
