Forest Heath District Council has granted Mildenhall Museum a grant of £789,813.
This with the successful Heritage Lottery bid will enable the Museum to secure history and heritage for future generations, provide a hub for community engagement and provide an interactive and educational experience for school visits and workshops for the community.
Councillor Nigel Roman, Deputy Leader and Chairman of Community Services said "This funding will bring Mildenhall Museum into the 21st Century with interactive displays, a community space which can be used for lectures or school visits and the Saxon Warrior, an exhibit of major importance found in Lakenheath which could be the only exhibit of this type in Europe. All of which would enhance and boost tourism in the area by bringing local history to life."
