Building Control

Building control

Our Building Control service operates from the District Offices and is staffed by professional experienced officers with an extensive knowledge both of local conditions and issues, and a wide range of building types and construction techniques.

The main purpose of the Building Regulations 2010 is to ensure the Health and Safety of people in and about buildings. They are also concerned with energy conservation and making buildings more convenient and accessible for people with disabilities.  Our Building Control team endeavours to provide a high quality service based on the following points:

  • We pride ourselves in providing advice and guidance to home owners, builders and agents.
  • We have a wealth of both local and technical knowledge.
  • We are able to provide information on Building Regulations and other associated legislation.
  • Advice is also available regarding any proposed changes to Building Control legislation.
  • We have extensive records on building work carried out within our district.
  • We are able to provide assistance and guidance on applications.
  • We guarantee a same day inspection service, provided we are notified before 10am that day.
  • We endeavour to assess Full Plan Applications within 15 working days from receipt of application.
  • Pre-application advice is available.
