Forest Heath has a rich heritage in terms of its man-made
environment, having individual buildings, townscapes and villages
of historic and architectural importance. Together with Scheduled
Ancient Monuments, archaeological sites and the natural landscape,
these elements contribute significantly to the special character
and "sense of place" of the district and thus are worthy of
preservation.
Historic buildings and the areas around them contribute
significantly to the quality of our lives. To ensure that
future generations can enjoy and be informed by the past just as
much as us, changes affecting listed buildings or conservation
areas are carefully controlled.
When considering development proposals in Forest Heath, special
regard is given to:
- protecting the character, local distinctiveness
and special architectural or historic interest of conservation
areas and historic buildings
- encouraging development in a way which is
consistent with preserving and enhancing the historic environment
of the district.

Listed Buildings.
