Our Purpose
Assist and promote the delivery of a safe, healthy, sustainable,
accessible and attractive environment across Forest
Heath.
Our Aims
- Promote sustainable development and land uses that conserve or
make environmentally efficient use of resources, particularly land,
energy and water.
- Encourage, where practical, the use of renewable
resources.
- Ensure the protection of health, safety, welfare and
convenience of people in and about buildings and structures.
- Deal with dangerous structures as quickly as possible to
minimise danger to the public.
- Ensure that all buildings and structures in the district,
particularly those belonging to the Council, where practical,
provide for disabled access.
- Offer an efficient and effective Building Control service that
can compete for business with the private sector.
- Ensure that all properties have a drainage system that does not
pose any danger to the health of the public.
- Operate a fair, equitable and consistent enforcement policy
based on the overall principle of seeking to prevent, where
possible, the need for enforcement in the first instance, and
balance the need to take prompt action where appropriate.
- Seek to improve the energy efficiency of the housing stock and
commercial premises within the Forest Heath district.
- Secure and promote the multi-skilled training led staffing
structure.
