Tai Chi in the parks
10 Jun 2008

FOREST Heath District Council is celebrating Love Parks Week with an intriguing invitation to sample the ancient art of Tai Chi.
Love Parks Week, 14 to 22 June, celebrates parks and open spaces as places for people to exercise.
The free sessions will be taking place across the district:

Tuesday 17 June, 6pm on The Severals, Newmarket (in Palace House Mews if raining)

Friday 20 June 1pm on Jubilee Fields, Mildenhall (in Jubilee Centre if raining)

Sunday 22 June 2pm at Brandon Country Park (in Brandon Leisure Centre if raining).

The Tai Chi sessions are open to everyone, of any age. All you need to do is turn up wearing comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily. The sessions are led by Sally Leitch who has 15 years experience in Tai Chi - an exercise regime known as an internal martial art!
Tai Chi is good for co-ordination, balance and flexibility and is a gentle, but effective, form of exercise. It is also said to have a calming effective on participants.
For further details about the Tai Chi please call Lizzi Cocker on 01638 719257.
Forest Heath has other open spaces for you to enjoy during the special week. There will be a Maidscross Wander at the Lakenheath Local Nature Reserve on Monday (16 June) and a guided tour of the Aspal Close Local Nature Reserve on Wednesday (18 June). For more details of both of these please call Nick Wyatt on 01638 719214.
