FOREST Heath District Council takes tough action
against noisy neighbours and has the power to seize music equipment
from persistent offenders.
This week council officers disposed of a large
quantity of musical equipment including record decks, records and
speakers.
Member Champion for the Environment, Councillor Tony
Simmons, has this warning for anyone who is noisy and inconsiderate
towards their neighbours: "Seizing and disposing of property is the
last thing we want to do but we will not hesitate if you are a
noisy neighbour. We are committed to ensuring that our residents
enjoy their homes and do not suffer unreasonable levels of noise.
There are too many residents whose lives are being ruined by noise,
some of whom are very vulnerable. We want to help residents avoid
causing noise problems of this nature, but if our advice is being
ignored we will take effective enforcement actions, such as seizing
offenders’ amplified equipment, to protect our environment and
community.”
