IN
the past year Forest Heath District Council received over 350 noise
complaints. And nationally over half the population say that noise
affects their quality of life.
The
council is using Noise Action Week (19 - 23 May) to raise awareness
of the problems that everyday noise can cause and the practical
solutions everyone can take to mitigate the
effects.
All
noise complaints made to Forest Heath District Council are treated
seriously and enforcement action is taken when necessary. A
considerable quantity of noise making equipment has been seized
from persistent offenders in the past year.
The
council is
raising awareness
of the impacts of noise in Forest Heath and the simple measures
that can be taken to prevent noise problems through displays set up
in reception at the Mildenhall offices and with information
available from our leisure centres and tourist information
desks.
Noise
Action Week encourages everybody to:
-
Consider
the noise they make and the effect it has on
others
-
Consider
the noises that disturb them
-
Use
practical solutions to everyday noise
problems
