FOREST Heath is gearing up for a fantastic week of events celebrating local food, produce and producers.

The Forest Heath Food Festival, from 22 to 29 September, is bringing together hotels, restaurants and retailers as well as food and drink producers. Their aim is to promote the wide variety food available in the district and to let local shoppers know about the benefits of eating healthily and buying locally.

Various venues across the district are holding exciting events throughout the week and there are a number of competitions for young people. The popular Farmers' Markets are also being held during the week in both Mildenhall and Newmarket.
There is a growing call to improve diets and reduce our carbon footprint and the Forest Heath Food Festival will encourage people to do both. Buying fresh seasonal food locally will benefit health, the local economy and the environment. The wealth of local growers and producers of excellent quality food in Forest Heath makes buying local produce easy.
