Community Grants

30 Jun 2009

ON Friday 3 July, at 3pm, Forest Heath District Council will be issuing Community Grant Cheques to two local organisations. Cllr Stephen Edwards, Chairman of the Community Grants Working Group, will be presenting the cheques to The Voluntary Network and The Rainbow Mother and Toddler group.

The Large Grant Award, of £2000, will be presented to The Voluntary Network, who plan to use the money to raise their profile in Mildenhall and Brandon. They hope to start monthly drop in sessions, which will provide an opportunity, not only for new volunteers to have individual interviews in their own towns, but also allow the Network to provide support to existing volunteers in those areas.

The Small Grant Award, of £250, will be presented to The Rainbow Mother and Toddler Group, who are based in Barton Mills. They are planning to use their grant to purchase new outdoor equipment, such as baby swings and water play apparatus. This will enable them to increase the range of activities for their members. Parents and children who attend The Rainbow Mother and Toddler Group will be present at Friday’s Presentations.
