Newmarket Conservation
Consultation |
ANYONE with an interest in Newmarket
is being invited to comment on the latest Conservation Area
Appraisal which is being produced by Forest Heath District
Council.
The town's special character comes
from the central horse training stables and yards - some small and
compact, others set in spacious grounds with trainer's houses,
stables, stable yards and paddocks behind high walls.
The long, wide High Street has been a
centre for trading and hospitality for centuries.
This Conservation Area Appraisal adopts a street-by-street approach
and covers 28 roads and approximately 185 hectares of the town. The
Draft Conservation Area Appraisal can be viewed on the Forward
Planning Pages of the Councils website at
www.forest-heath.gov.uk
Each section gives a comprehensive overview of the areas character,
what architectural or historic features make it special and any
proposed changes.
The consultation runs until 5pm on Friday 7 August and comments
should be sent to
boyd.nicholas@forest-heath.gov.uk
or post to Mr B Nicholas, Forest Heath District Council, College
Heath Road, Mildenhall, IP28 7EY.
