Active4LifeBanner

When you are more active you feel better, your health improves and you get more out of life. More than 63% of men and 75% of women don’t take enough exercise to benefit their health because being active means being physically energetic, not just busy!

Being More Active

  • Helps keep your heart and blood vessels strong and healthy and so reduces risk of high cholesterol, coronary heart disease and stroke.
  • Helps maintain strong bones and helps prevent osteoporosis.
  • When combined with sensible eating, can help with weight loss and improve your shape.
  • Gives you more energy to do other things in life and so helps to improve your sense of wellbeing.
  • Helps keep you mobile and independent in years to come.
  • Helps you relax and unwind from stress and improves your sleep.
  • May improve Immunity - fit people are ill less often.

Age, sex, size, shape and disability are no bar to being more active.

So why not join us and become ‘Active 4 life’?

What happens on the scheme?

Throughout the ‘exercise on the referral scheme at Forest Heath, we aim to guide you towards a healthier lifestyle. We will encourage you towards regular physical activity, offer advice on healthy eating, stopping smoking and how to help you combat stress.

If your GP / Practice Nurse / CPN or physiotherapist thinks that you would benefit from attending our scheme then they will complete a referral form and ask you phone one of our leisure centres for an appointment. The referral is for 10 weeks and you are invited to attend twice each week. Activity is tailored to your ability and fitness which is gradually increased during the course as you become fitter.

How do I get started?

Phone one of our leisure centres and ask to book an assessment appointment. Please bring your completed referral form with you.
