The service aim is "to preserve the district's natural and built
heritage and support the development of museums and other
associated attractions and to promote their educational value."
We support and provide grant aid to local museums and heritage
centres within the district and manage Palace House, the former
Newmarket home of Charles II. Together with the recently formed
'Home of Horseracing Trust', the Council is developing a new
heritage/tourism attraction based on the house and its adjacent
stables. The development will regenerate the historic heart of the
town and provide a new visitor experience to welcome visitors to
this unique town.
