Although we don't have any specific arts venues in
Forest Heath we make sure we bring professional arts to local
people and support local communities in their activity.
To do this we help fund and develop arts projects in a number of
ways. For example, we may engage a professional artist to work with
children to create a mural as we did at Brandon railway station or
fund activity to provide entertainment locally such as cinema and
theatre in village halls. We also run specific projects for
targeted groups such as 'Mildenhall Rocks' a rock and pop music
project for teenagers and young people. We also help local arts
groups with advice and funding
applications.
The following is a list of
activities and projects that we either
manage and deliver or work in partnership to deliver
with arts organisations and the local community.
- Running a digital cinema network providing film
screenings in local venues
- Developing creative dance activity in the
community and particularly in schools
- Bringing theatre and performance to village
halls through a rural touring scheme
- Supporting a youth rock and pop music
project
- Promoting art exhibitions and supporting
artists
- Commissioning art and sculpture in public
places
- Bringing classical music performance and
projects to the community and schools
- Organising holiday activities for children and
young people
- Funding activity for hard to reach
groups
-
Giving
advice on project planning and grant
applications
- Supporting local voluntary led arts
groups
