Arts and Entertainment
We bring professional arts to local people and support local communities in their activity, even though we don't have any specific arts venues in Forest Heath.
We help fund and develop arts projects in a number of ways. For example, we may engage a professional artist to work with children to create a mural as we did at Brandon railway station, or fund activity to provide entertainment locally such as cinema and theatre in village halls. We run specific projects for targeted groups such as 'Mildenhall Rocks', a rock and pop music project for teenagers and young people. We also help local arts groups with advice and funding applications.
The following is a list of activities and projects that we either manage and deliver or work in partnership to deliver with arts organisations and the local community.
- Run a digital cinema network providing film screenings in local venues
- Develop creative dance activity in the community, particularly in schools
- Bring theatre and performance to village halls through a rural touring scheme
- Support a youth rock and pop music project
- Promote art exhibitions and support artists
- Commission art and sculpture in public places
- Bring classical music performance and projects to the community and schools
- Organise holiday activities for children and young people
- Fund activity for hard to reach groups
- Give advice on project planning and grant applications
- Support local voluntary led arts groups
