We have a team dedicated to the housing strategy and affordable
housing.
Following the three month consultation, the Housing Strategy and
Sub-strategies have been formally adopted.
The Housing Strategy aims at providing an overall
view of the housing picture in the Forest Heath. The strategy
takes into account what exists for those renting and owner
occupiers, together with aspirations for those living in the area.
There is clear emphasis on affordable housing and sets out the
strategic housing priorities.
The Affordable Housing Strategy sets out our
understanding of the need for affordable housing in Forest Heath.
It defines affordable housing and how the strategy will be
implemented by monitoring and reviewing.
The Homelessness Strategy allows us to ensure the
reduction in the number of homeless families, permanently eliminate
the use of bed and breakfast whilst reducing the number of
households in temporary accommodation. In producing this strategy
we have adopted a pro-active approach in our duties for considering
the current needs of homeless households.
The Empty Homes Strategy sets out how we deal with
long term empty homes within the private sector housing stock. It
will continue to be developed in finding ways to encourage
constructive and creative ways for owners to bring their vacant
dwellings back into domestic use.
