More than half a million tonnes of unwanted mail is generated
in the UK every year, which is made from nearly eight and a
half million trees.
Although some of the direct mail you receive is useful, a lot of it
is unwanted, leaving you with the need to dispose of it. Of course
you can recycle this paper, but it is better to prevent the mail
being generated in the first place, which will also save resources
and energy.
How can you be more selective about what comes through your
letterbox and help reduce the amount of unwanted mail you
receive?
By simply following the three easy steps below you can reduce the
amount of unwanted mail you receive:
1. Reduce unwanted addressed mail
By registering with the
Mailing Preference
Service you can remove your address details from up to 95% of
direct mail lists in the UK. This service is free of charge.
Contact the mailing service for more information:
2. Reduce unwanted unaddressed mail by opting out of the
Royal Mail Door to Door service.
Simply send or email your name and address and write down “I
would like to opt out of receiving Door to Door items"

Whenever you fill out a coupon or give your address details to a
company they are legally obliged to give you the option to say you
do not wish them to pass your details on to other companies.
