In accordance with the Home Energy Conservation Act, Forest
Heath District Council is working to improve the energy efficiency
of housing across the District. We are required to produce a report
that sets out measures that are practical, cost effective and
likely to result in a 30% reduction in energy by 2010. Forest Heath
District Council offers information and advice via this website,
over the telephone and through public events.

Information About Home Energy Efficency
There are many people within the District that pay more than 10% of
their income to adequately heat their home. This is commonly called
fuel poverty. Living in a cold home can cause you health problems.
Through helping residents to make their homes more efficient we aim
to make heating their home more affordable.
There are many ways that you can improve the energy efficiency of
your home. Information about energy savings and possible help
can be found in the Download section, document "Energy Savings
and Possible Help"
FAQ's
Q: Do Forest Heath District Council offer grants for energy
efficiency?
A: Forest Heath District Council does not offer grants specifically
for energy efficiency. Government funded Warm Front grants are
available to those in receipt of certain benefits and the over 70's
(see downloads). Local installers also offer discounted and in some
cases free insulation (usually the same criteria as Warm Front).
Forest Heath District Council has worked with some local installers
but we cannot guarantee they offer the best deal for all residents
(see downloads). FHDC Private Sector Housing Team also offers
grants to people in receipt of certain benefits to raise properties
up to the Decent Homes Standard. Houses that fail decency due to
thermal efficiency may have measures such as insulation
installed.
