Home Energy Efficiency
Help and advice for residents
There are many people within our district who pay more than 10% of their income to heat their homes. This is commonly known as fuel poverty. Fuel poverty has a range of causes including inadequate thermal insulation, high fuel prices and low household income.
To help combat this, we offer Home Energy Efficiency Surveys.
Home Energy Efficiency Survey
This will help us determine what you could be entitled to in order to keep your home warm, reduce utility bills and reduce the amount of CO2 emissions. The service is offered free of charge for all residents and involves a visit to your home by a trained home energy advisor. The advisor will produce a list of recommendations that, if acted upon, should improve the energy performance of your property and reduce your carbon emissions.
The recommendations may include:
- No cost changes to the way you use energy in your home
- Installing new energy savings devices, some of which the advisor may have available free of charge during the visit (dependent on need and availability)
- Referral to some of the available energy efficiency grant schemes should you meet the qualifying criteria.
On completion of the visit an information pack will be left with you which includes useful contact information and details of the groups and bodies mentioned during the visit.
