Youth Forum : Young People WANTED  !

Almost 25% of Forest Heath’s population is under 18 and therefore has no vote and no voice. However, we  value the contribution young people can make to our community and want to listen to young people's ideas and opinions.

In March 2007  the new 'Youth Forum for Forest Heath' was launched with the aim of providing a network for local school councils and giving young people in the area a voice which will be listened to by the council.

Any young person who is a resident of the area and is aged 11 to 19 can be nominated by their School Council or youth club. No experience is necessary and training will be provided. Meetings are held four times a year to discuss important youth-related issues and members lead in organising an annual Youth Conference during Local Democracy Week.

If you want to get involved contact us by email youth@forest-heath.gov.uk  or call 01638 719295

We actively support Citizenship in schools and offer a range of programmes and activities including an 'Introduction to the District Council '  which involves a visit to the Council Chamber and lasts approximately 1 1/2 hours and is suitable for a class of between 15 -30 pupils.  Alternative programmes are available which can be delivered at your school.  For details call 01638 719295 or email youth@forest-heath.gov.uk to make a booking.

We also offer short sessions and classroom workshops to schools covering subjects such as : health improvement, health & hygiene, countryside and sustainable development.
