If a light goes out in your street who do you
call to fix it?
A majority of the street lights in the district belong to Suffolk
County Council and have a plastic plate with the freephone number
0800 591055.
Forest Heath District Council only owns 179 lamps and each one has
our crest displayed. These lights are found in some car parks
and town centres. Please call 01638 719000 to report a
fault.
Lights in garage blocks and on estates now belong to Kings' Forest
Housing and you should phone 0845 6013390 to report faults.
Other lights are owned by the relevant parish or town
councils.
Follow this link to find out their contact
details.
When reporting a street light fault, please have the following
information ready:
- As much information as possible about the fault, for example,
is the light not working at all, is it an intermittent fault or is
the light staying on during the day (daylight burning)?
- The street light number. If you don’t know the lamp post
number, please give some other means of locating the light such as
a nearby house number.
Suffolk County Council has set up a telephone
number and email address for Play Your Part, which you can also use
to report street light problems. The County Council will then
direct the report to the correct agency.
