Blue Badges
Blue Badge
Blue Badge Permits in the Forest Heath area are issued by Suffolk Social Services Team and are designed to help make car parking easier for people who have mobility difficulties.
The Department for Transport has produced a guidance manual for blue badge holders and their drivers.
Pay and Display Car Parks
Parking is FREE in the car parks set out below for all Disabled Badge holders displaying the blue badge and parking disc (also known as a timeclock) correctly on their vehicle dashboard.
Free parking is permitted in all bays not just those dedicated for disabled parking.
Parking is restricted to the maximum time allowed in any car park:
- All Saints Road - 12 hours
- Grosvenor Yard - 12 hours
- St Mary's/Church Lane/Turners Hall - 12 hours
- Market Square (short stay) - 3 hours
- Rous Road (short stay) - 3 hours
- The Guineas Multi-storey Car Park (short stay) - 3 hours
Permits showing the expiry date must be displayed in the front windscreen of the vehicle as shown (below).

The incorrect display of a Disabled Badge could result in an Excess Charge Notice being issued.
As well as the Disabled Badge a parking disc is also required (these are issued with the badge). The disc must be displayed every time you park and set to show the time of arrival. This should be displayed alongside your blue badge.

Failure to display a Disabled Badge will result in an Excess Charge Notice being issued.
To assist Blue Badge Holders, we have created a leaflet which provides information on where to obtain and how to display your Blue Badge within our car parks.
Leaflets is available from our offices or alternatively click on the related downloads at the foot of this page and download the leaflet - blue badge holders,
