A new Chairman and Vice-Chairman were elected for the forthcoming year at our AGM on 7 May. The new Chairman is Councillor Rona Burt and Vice-Chairman is Councillor Malcolm Smith.

Newmarket people now have an easy way to voice concerns about aircraft stacking plans. We have opened petitions at Palace House and in our offices at The Guineas. Or you can complete the petition online. Our petitions will run until 5pm on Monday 9 June, 2008. To protect its staff and customers from the dangers of second-hand smoke, Forest Heath District Council has declared the whole of its College Heath Road site in Mildenhall a smoke-free zone. The new national rules prohibit smoking in enclosed public places. The Council has sought to set a good example in the interest of public health and has applied the law to the entire grounds of its main offices. Customers and visitors to the College Heath Road site are politely asked to respect these rules and not smoke whilst on our site.
