Heritage Open Days


Celebrating Heritage Open days in the Forest Heath District, the following places will be opening their doors for free to visitors.

On Saturday 11 September, Mildenhall Museum, with its famous treasure will be open 2-4.30 pm, Brandon Heritage Centre, 11-5pm and Brandon Country Park, 11-3pm to discover the unique story of the Mausoleum.

Sunday 12 September, will be the annual opening of Mildenhall Warren Lodge, from 11am to 4pm, organised by Friends of Thetford Forest Park. The Warren at Mildenhall was establish in the 1320s and this building is one of only two medieval warren lodges to survive, the other being at Thetford. Besides being able to go inside the lodge, you can view displays about the history of rabbit warrening and this warren in particular.

View Suffolk's Green Buildings

Eleven buildings utilising sustainable technologies will be opening their doors to the public free of charge, for up to four days between 9 - 12 September 2010. So that members of the public can visit and see the technology in situ.  For further information visit www.greensuffolk.org

One week in Summer 2010  

Forest Heath District Council has worked with West Suffolk Arts Centre and a group of young people who are currently working towards a Gold Arts Award in Filmmaking, to produce a short documentary, focusing on two high-profile cultural activities that took place during August: Brandon Braderie and the Brandon Festival of Culture

Cultural Strategy 2010 - 2015 

Our draft Cultural Strategy is now ready for initial consultation. The new Strategy sets out the strategic and operational elements of each of the services areas of work. It takes account of the Council’s Corporate Priorities and those of its partners and most importantly it takes account of the service users needs.

'Hot drinks, Key links'

The 'Hot drinks, Key links' drop-in sessions will be taking place on the first Friday of every month (until January 2011), from 10am - 12 noon. It will be an opportunity to have a hot drink and a chat.

Forest Heath and St Edmundsbury councils are looking to save money by working together to communicate this information. The Two of Us

The Theatre Royal, is getting ready to set-off on tour across East Anglia as it stages a fabulous set of mini comedies on love and relationships. Touring to a venue near you, from the 1 September - 9 October.
